Bolivian Fiscal Oil Fields (YPFB), began operations of the gas pipeline of the Carrasco – Yapacaní Gasduct Transportation Capacity Expansion Project (GCY) to ensure the supply of the required volume of natural gas to the Bulo Bulo Ammonia Urea Plant. The investment was estimated at $us 24.39 million, which will also allow us to meet the demand of the western domestic market, using the operation of the Carrasco Compression Plant. With this expansion, the objective of increasing the transportation capacity of the GCY gas pipeline from 133 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd) to 163 MMcfd was achieved, through the implementation of a 16-inch loop of approximately 30 kilometers in length. The new loop is located in the departments of Santa Cruz and Cochabamba in the Ichilo and Carrasco municipalities, respectively. The engineering design and subsequent construction began on December 14, 2018 and the completion of the works took place on October 24, 2020, followed by internal air sweeping and pressurization activities by the Operations Management of YPFB TRANSPORTE S.A. With the Operating License, issued by the National Hydrocarbons Agency, the new pipeline will begin the operation of transporting Natural Gas to the Carrasco Compression Plant and then continue to the Carrasco-Cochabamba gas pipeline (GCC).
